Focusing on sustainability and transformation
On 28 and 29 November 2024, the future dialogue “History, culture and sustainable development of mining and other cultural landscapes” took place at the "Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum" , organized by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Tina Asmussen, the event dealt with the ecological, economic and social transformations in (former) mining landscapes and examined how history, art and culture can be integrated into sustainable development strategies.
Experts from various disciplines presented innovative approaches to the rehabilitation and transformation of former mining regions and discussed the long-term environmental impact of industrial activities. Among them Stella Flatten, as part of the project "Digging".
Particular attention was paid to the question of how historical and cultural perspectives can contribute to a more sustainable future for these landscapes.
