Excursion to the Futurium in Berlin: sustainability in the focus of research
At the end of November 2024, members of the LWC PdP went on a two-day excursion to the capital. The doctoral students and postdocs of the campus were given a guided tour of the Futurium in Berlin to get ideas for discussions on sustainability and community life in the future. We then retreated to collaborative work to pursue the references of our own projects and disciplines to sustainability in three workshop sessions. The common background for this discussion was provided by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals agreed upon by the member states of the United Nations. The second day, on which we met at the Leibniz Association's office, was also introduced by a lecture: Oana Maria Rebedea, Team Leader and Partnership Specialist at the UNDP Regional Hub Istanbul of the United Nations, visited us to give a presentation on the genesis and discussions leading up to the agreement on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Afterwards, we once again discussed sustainability and the references of the LWC PdP projects from our own projects and considered where the campus projects can support the achievement of the goals through education, inclusion and the elimination of inequalities.
